Description | Community environmental organization *Promotes environmental sustainability through public education on waste reduction and other environmental issues of concern to local residents. *Encourages citizens to become more environmentally responsible through youth and community based environmental programs. Community Gardens *Encourages residents to put roots down in growing their community and provides a welcoming space to share food, cultures, and build friendships. *The garden provides a welcoming space to learn, share food and build friendships. *Please contact at communitygardens@ecosource.ca or call 905-274-6222 ext. 303 for more information. Sustainable Urban Agriculture *The Peel Local Food Literacy in Action project provides training and support to volunteers, as well as school field trips for local schools. *Gardening workshops, planting projects, and field trips provide students, community groups, and corporate groups with the opportunity for hands-on learning about gardening, ecosystems, native plants, and environmental stewardship. |
