Description/Eligibility/Service Details

Description Oliver House offers supportive housing in a home-like setting for adults living with serious mental illness who need stable, safe, and affordable housing with recovery-oriented supports. We provide housing, meals, and 24-hour supportive care to help tenants achieve and maintain stability. 
 
Oliver House is part of the Community Homes for Opportunity (CHO) program, which was previously connected to the Homes for Special Care Program. Total capacity is 52 residents, delivered through two intake streams: 
 
Option 1: Community Homes for Opportunity (CHO) - 47 beds. CHO is for adults living with mental health challenges who want stable, safe, and affordable housing with person-centred, goal-focused supports in their own community. Tenants help set their own goals and can access supports through SHIP, including: Community mental health counselling, Nursing supports, Financial literacy, Coordination to other health and community services 
 
How to apply (CHO)? Go to SHIP’s website. Click the orange “Apply” button. Complete the housing application form. Under “Housing Preferences,” select “Oliver House.” 
 
Important: All CHO applications must go through SHIP’s central intake. Oliver House does not have access to CHO wait-lists, timelines, or application files. Please do not send CHO applications directly to the home. 
 
Option 2: Region of Peel - Housing With Supports (HWS) - 7 beds Who HWS is for? HWS is for adults who need supportive housing with daily living assistance in a home-like setting.  
 
How to apply (HWS)? Request an application: Email oliverhousecorbett@gmail.com and ask for the Residential Home Referral Application. Complete the application: Fill out all sections. Submit the application: Email to oliverhousecorbett@gmail.com, or Fax to (519) 927-5677 Need help? Call (519) 927-5285 for assistance completing the form.  
 
What happens after you apply (HWS)? Initial screening. We review eligibility based on program criteria. Intake appointment, if minimum criteria are met, we schedule an intake to gather more information. Next steps, if still eligible, the home operator will contact you to arrange a tour and finalize the process. If Oliver House is at full capacity, eligible referrals are placed on a waiting list. If an applicant does not meet eligibility criteria, we will inform you and the referral will not be added to the waiting list. All HWS referrals are assessed internally by Oliver House.

Fees Program ; The tenants in the program pay their rent based on their income. The homeowner provides meals, snacks, and boarding for the tenants. The program covers the costs of medications and most health care expenses. Transportation for non-medical purposes and regularly scheduled recreational activities are also provided to tenants, with the clients being responsible for covering the associated costs. * Fee assistance available.
