Description/Eligibility/Service Details
| Description | The Short Stay Crisis Support Program offers voluntary support services to people with mental health issues, who are experiencing crisis, and have come into conflict with the criminal justice system. The program has 8 beds at each location, with 1 of these beds at each location available for individuals who meet the program criteria, but who are not involved with the criminal justice system. The Short Stay Crisis Support Program is designed to promote crisis de-escalation. Clients are provided with lodging and supports for up to 14 days. Services include: *Short term care planning, discharge planning, coordination and linkage to other community support services *Specialized short-term case management *Risk assessment, management and 24/7 client-centred support *Clinical interventions *Other services that promote clients’ wellness and reintegration into the community |

| Eligibility | Ages: 16 year(s) and up To receive services, the individual must: *Be 16+ years old with diagnosed or apparent mental health symptoms *Be experiencing a crisis that escalates their symptoms of mental illness *Have had legal involvement (in the past 2 years) or have the potential for criminal involvement *Be residing or receiving services in Peel Region *NOT be an immediate risk to self or others *Be willing to be supported by the program staff *Be able to be safely supported in the program and when alone in the community *Be medically stable and able to obtain and administer their own medication *Be willing to participate in any protocol supporting the promotion of a “Pest Free’ environment *Be able to take care of own basic needs (bathing, toileting, eating, dressing) independently *Work actively with staff towards reaching identified goals |
| Application | Referrals are accepted from Mental Health and/or Addiction Agency workers, and individuals are also able to self-refer. Referrals are accepted on a first come first served basis only when there is a bed available, and there is no waitlist offered. Referrals and self-referrals are reviewed for eligibility, and if eligible, an intake assessment is completed with the client. The client then enters the program and service provision begins.
