Description/Eligibility/Service Details

Description Intensive individual assistance and advocacy around accessing community resources and services to individuals experiencing mental health concerns, who are in conflict with the law 
 
•Court Support Services – general assistance with navigating the mental health and justice system. Coordinate forensic assessment orders 
•Mental Health Diversion - when determined in court, the Courthouse can refer individuals to CMHA to address their mental health concerns, as an alternative resolution. A Crown Attorney referral is required 
•Release from Custody – helping clients transition back into their home communities after being released from court custody, Maplehurst Correctional Complex, Ontario Correctional Institute or Vanier Centre for Women 
•Post Court Transitional Support - community support and access to a housing specialist is provided to individuals whose court matters are complete. This program is in partnership with Services and Housing in the Province (SHIP) 
•Family Support - assistance and help with navigating the mental health and justice system is available for loved ones who are clients of MHJS programs 
•Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Diagnostic Clinic - a FASD Nurse coordinator assists individuals in completing assessments needed to determine a diagnosis of FASD. This includes education for individuals, their loved ones/caregivers and other service providers working alongside the person with FASD
